The Shows I Have Rewatched During Quarantine

Apr 15, 2020

I think I am reliving middle/high school through my Netflix choices.

I can only speak for my friends and myself, we lived vicariously through our favorite TV shows. Serena Vanderwoodsen was my ultimate fashion icon. I dreamed that my first relationship would be like Haley and Nathan Scotts and I truly think I went through a phase where I wanted to be a vampire- thank you, Stefan Salvatore.

These were my favorite TV dramas when I was younger that deserve to be rewatched:

1. Vampire Diaries was my freshman year of highschool addiction. There is the perfect amount of romance, friendship, and supernatural ability. Watching this show five years later, my opinion hasn’t really changed. I am still absolutely in love with both Stefan and Damon Salvatore. Yet, I have liked Caroline a lot more while rewatching, she became such a strong and powerful woman throughout the show and I do not think I noticed that when I was younger.

2. Gossip Girl is and will always be classic. It is so easy to gaze into the lavish lives that the characters live on the show. I don’t even want to call it a good show, the acting can be terrible at times and the plot is pretty shaky, to say the least. There is just something about it that makes you keep watching. My best friend and I idolized Serena and Blair when we were 13, she even wore a headband. Now watching GG again, I cannot understand why I thought that they were this dynamic duo because their friendship is extremely toxic and no one behaves like that in real life.

3. Pretty Little Liars is much different than the two other shows. I started watching PLL when I was 10 years old, the show ended when I was 17. At 17 years old, I was not as naive and easily influenced as I was when I binge-watched GG and TVD. I mainly rewatched episodes from the beginning of the series for this reason. I truly think that I should not have watched this when I was 10 years old. The romance, the stalking, the death all went over my head and I think I have to rewatch the entire show.
