Earth Day is here to remind us that we are Earthlings, made in the shape, color, and form of Mother Earth. Today’s New Moon brings us back to our origins. The Sun and the Moon meet at 3 degrees and 24 minutes of the feminine, receptive, life-giving sign of Taurus, aligning their energies to initiate a new cycle of growth and development.

With the sign of Taurus, our hopes and expectations awaken just like nature is awakening all around us… However, our relationship with the natural world has been broken for quite some time. With the current worldwide lockdown caused by the pandemic, the energy of this New Moon can serve us as a springboard to adjust our attitudes towards the planet that creates, sustains and nourishes life.

The major aspect of this New Moon is the conjunction of Sun, Moon, and Uranus, which moved into Taurus in 2019 and will remain in this earthy, fixed sign until 2026. Taurus, with it’s two rulers, Venus, and the asteroid Ceres, controls the environment, agriculture, wealth, investments, and the home – it is the most traditional of all the signs. So with Uranus there we must expect radical changes in all these areas happening in Uranian style: unexpectedly, and thoroughly.  This brings our attention to how we are treating the Earth and how we are using its resources. The Asteroid Ceres, at 29 degrees of Aquarius, creates a sextile to the Sun and Moon. It is a dynamic, positive aspect which is our call to action to recognize the Earth as a living organism, following the Gaia hypothesis, according to which, the Earth itself is a complex interacting system that can be thought of as a single self regulating organism.

The asteroid Ceres is associated with the ancient Roman Goddess of Agriculture and Fertility, who also represents the principle of the Mother Earth, and the ancient Great Mother Goddess Gaia. During this New Moon Ceres is creating a trine to the North Node in Cancer, representing our collective destiny and a sextile to the South Node, our collective past in the sign of Capricorn. This axis will be shifting into Gemini-Sagittarius on May 4th 2020, speeding things up, integrating lessons of Cancer, and hopefully awakening us to the fact that Mother Earth is a living system in which all organisms, organic and non-inorganic, are closely integrated to form a single and self-regulating complex system, sustaining the conditions for life on the planet.

We are still affected by the Pluto / Jupiter conjunction in Capricorn that took place on April 4th, and will happen again on June 30th and November 12th, sending energetic waves throughout the Universe. Jupiter, the Great Benefit, conjunct Pluto brings opportunity to align with the highest calling, attuned to the idealistic, selfless expressions of Plutonian energies. Pluto’s immense powers are best expressed as used for the greater good, and not the egotistical self serving results. Keep that in mind, and let the principle of the common good guide your actions.

During the New Moon we will also experience the energies of a mighty stellium between Pluto, Jupiter, Pallas Athena, the Feminine Warrior energy at 29 degrees of Capricorn, and Saturn at 1 degrees of Aquarius. These warrior archetypes square the New Moon conjunct Uranus, putting us in difficult situations for us to deal with. The tensions between Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus will be felt during the next two months until Saturn moves back to Capricorn, and then again once Saturn enters Aquarius again in December 2020 throughout the entire 2021 bringing political and economic instability, and structural changes…

During this New Moon keep your frequency high, immerse yourself in nature, whether physically or through a meditative journey. And remind yourself that this is the time of new beginnings. Feel connected to our planet, with her beauty, strength, and potential for regeneration. She is our Mother Goddess, our spaceship that carries us through the infinite Universe.
