Glow Recipe’s Papaya Sorbet Cleansing Balm

Glow Recipe continues to innovate in the K-beauty space. The brand, known for its divine Watermelon Juice moisturizers, which are light but effective, just dropped another fruit-inspired product. The Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm will melt away the most persistent, long-wear eyeliner, the most stubborn and water-resistant mascara, the most budge-proof matte liquid lipstick, and the most committed concealer. It’s that good.

Makeup that stays put and doesn’t migrate or turn into a runny mess during the dog days of summer and the accompanying heat and humidity is always the goal. However, is there anything more annoying than washing your face before bed and doing battle with the immovable makeup that just won’t wash away? It’s such a catch-22 because you want a potent product that outlasts the climate or your schedule — but you don’t want to sleep in it, either.

Sure, next-day, “lived in” smoky eyes are kinda sexy, but not when you’re trying to crawl into bed and crash out. And “I want eyeshadow-stained sheets,” said no one ever. I have been struggling with totally removing my MAC Smolder eye kohl. Other makeup removers get MOST of the product off my eyes, but I always wake up with a little smudge here and there. Plus, the repeated rubbing causes me to lose eyelashes and ultimately irritates the delicate skin around my eyes. Ugh with a side of ugh.

Enter the Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm, which really and truly dissolves every last trace of makeup, oil, dirt, and the remains of the day. Whatever you were doing during the day is wiped away, leaving nothing but smooth, well-hydrated, and moisturized skin in its wake. You know that last vestige of mascara that sticks to your lower lashline despite repeated swipes with a cleanser-saturated wash cloth? Yeah, that goes bye-bye, too. I use this cleansing balm every night and go to bed and wake up with a totally clean face.

The peach-colored and sweetly scented balm turns milky when you rub a tiny dollop between your fingers and when you add water and smooth it over your skin. It also lightly exfoliates so you can complete two skin care tasks with a single product, and that’s always rad.

The formula is super good for your skin, too, thanks to papaya seed oil, papaya enzymes, papaya extract, and antioxidant-packed blueberry. Expect glowing, dewy, and plush skin after a few evening’s worth of use.

Also, K-Beauty is known for double cleansing, where you use a product to dissolve dirt and makeup and then rinse and repeat with a second cleanser, allowing it to penetrate the skin for a minute before rinsing away. You can use this makeup melter for both purposes and your skin all be baby and buttery soft.

The Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm is available at Sephora for $32.
